1. Pizhichil
It can be done yearly once as rejuvenation therapy for improving health and general well- being especially during old age and in diseases like arthritis, paralysis and nervous weakness.
During this treatment, the patient is laid in a tub specially made from wood of trees known as its medicinal values. Slow steam of warm medicated oil is applied all over the body along with Ayurvedic massages for an hour a day for duration of three days, five days, seven days or fourteen days. Pizhichil is known to be one of the best treatments for rheumatic and neurological ailments, which helps to arrest the ageing process and tones up the skin, preventing scales and wrinkles from appearing.
2. Kizhi
In this treatment the whole body is made to perspire by the external application of medicated packs in the form of boluses tied in cloth bags. The packs are made up of Rice (Njavarakizhi) or herbal powder (Choorna Kizhi) or herbal leaves (Ela kizhi). In rheumatic disorders and skeletal diseases, spondylitis, arthritis, and stiffness of muscles and sprains.
- Njavara kizhi (Rice): This is a preventive system for premature ageing. All types of rheumatism, pain in the joints, emaciation of limbs and certain skin diseases can be treated this way. A hot medicinal pudding like preparation is stuffed in cloth pouches and applied all over the body and at times over particular parts, in order to induce sudation. Njavarakkizhi enhances physical consistency, reinforces nerves and betters one's complexion.
- Choorna kizhi (Herbal powder): In rheumatic disorders and skeletal diseases, spondylitis, arthritis, and stiffness of muscles and sprains.
- Elakizhi (Herbal Leaves): Treats stiffness of body and relieves stress through a comprehensive herbal process
